MBB: Rams Shoot Past Stars 70-58

FORT WORTH, TX - On Thursday, Texas Wesleyan emerged victorious against Oklahoma City University with a final score of 72-53 at the Sid Richardson Center. 

The first half saw a closely contested battle, with Texas Wesleyan holding a slim 30-26 lead. However, the game's dynamics shifted significantly in the second half, as Texas Wesleyan went on a 42-27 scoring spree, securing a 19-point lead by the end of the game.

TXWES Adetokunbo Bakare contributing 19 points, including two three-pointers and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. Isaiah Marin and Kris Lafayette also played roles, scoring 12 points each.

The Stars faced challenges in efficiency, shooting 31% from the field and 5.6% from beyond the arc. Avery Jackson led OCU, scoring 15 points, but the team struggled collectively to find the basket, making only 1 out of 18 attempts from a three-point range.

Statistically, the Rams out rebounded the Stars 37 to 35, capitalized on turnovers with 13 points off them, and led in points off the bench with 18 compared to Oklahoma City's 12. Texas Wesleyan also exhibited control in the paint, scoring 30 points compared to Oklahoma City's 24.

The victory improved Texas Wesleyan's overall record to 11-14, with a conference record of 9-10, while Oklahoma City's record dropped to 8-17, with a conference record of 6-13.

The Rams will next travel on the road to play John Brown University on Saturday at 3:45 PM before returning home for two games to close the regular season. Langston University will play the Rams in the Sid Richardson Center on February 22, with tip-off scheduled for 7:45 PM, and Central Christian will play on February 24 at 3:45 PM.
