Plainview, Texas – The Rams split their Wednesday doubleheader against the Pioneers to close out the series. Texas Wesleyan took game one 6-0 but fell short for a game two 7-8.
Texas Wesleyan got off to a quick start in the 1
st inning after sending a RBI single to center field to send
Haylie Delarosa home to make it 1-0. The Rams would go up 2-0 after an RBI double in the top of the 3rd. Texas Wesleyan would score once more run in the 4
th after
Krysta White grounded a ball out to the short stop to send
EB Zimmerman for the score. Up 3-0, the Pioneers would allow Texas Wesleyan to score three more runs with two in the 5th, and one in the 6th to take a 6-0 lead to win game one.
In game two the Texas Wesleyan and Wayland Baptist would be all tied up at 4-4 heading into the top of the 2
nd inning. After the Rams got a run to take a 5-4 lead, the Pioneers responded in the 3
rd after scoring three runs on after a few untimely errors by the Rams to take a 7-5 lead. In the bottom of the 6
th inning Wayland would score an important run to take the lead. Texas Wesleyan would score three runs to make it an 8-7 ballgame. The Rams would send out a fly ball into foul territory that was caught by the Pioneers to clinch the 8-7 win over.
The Rams will host Central Christian College this weekend in a four-game Sooner Athletic Conference series. The first pitch for game one of the doubleheader on Friday is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
