BB: Rams Beat No. 18 MACU in Series Finale

FORT WORTH, TX - On Friday, Texas Wesleyan University beat No. 18 Mid-America Christian University 7-1 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mid-America Christian got on the board first, with Anthony Hampton scoring on an error in the second inning. Still, Texas Wesleyan quickly responded in the bottom of the inning with Angel Polanco's two-run homer, putting them ahead.

The game remained tight until the fifth inning when Texas Wesleyan extended their lead to 3-1 with TJ Tomlinson's sacrifice fly. In the sixth inning, Texas Wesleyan added two more runs, courtesy of Polanco's RBI double and Chase Cos's sacrifice fly.

In the seventh, Ryan Flores sealed the victory for Texas Wesleyan with a two-run homer, bringing the score to 7-1.

Pitcher David Theriot delivered a commanding performance, allowing only one run and striking out four over two innings, earning him the win.

Despite a solid effort from Mid-America Christian's Devan Quesada on the mound, Texas Wesleyan's offense proved too much for the Evangels to handle.

Before the start of the game, ten seniors were honored for their contributions to the TXWES Baseball program, Kyle Looper, Garrett Bodine, Justin Ward, Jaxon Ingram, David Theriot, Stephen Roberts, Chase Cos, Sutton Tidwell, Aiden Kenny and Hayden Hutchens.

With this result, Texas Wesleyan improved to 27-17 for the season and 15-9 in conference play, while Mid-America Christian's record dropped to 32-10 and 17-4 in conference play.

The Rams will close out the regular season on Tuesday against No. 2 Louisiana State University at Shreveport, with the first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. at Sycamore Park.
