FORT WORTH, TX - On Tuesday, Texas Wesleyan University lost to Louisiana State University at Shreveport in a nail-biter 7-6.
The game saw the Pilots taking an early lead in the 1st inning as Vantrel Reed's double brought in two runs, courtesy of Josh Gibson and Ryan Davenport.
However, the Rams fought back vigorously in the 3rd inning, with Rody Garcia's triple and subsequent hits from TJ Tomlinson and Chase Cos, giving them a 3-2 lead.
The game continued progressing, with TXWES extending their lead to 4-2 in the 5th inning, but LSU-S rallied in the 6th and 7th innings, tying the game at 4-4 and then surging ahead with a 7-4 lead.
In the latter stages, Texas Wesleyan managed to narrow the gap, scoring two more runs in the 7th and 8th innings, bringing the score to 7-6.
However, LSU Shreveport's defense held firm in the final inning, securing a hard-fought victory.
Reed was the standout player for LSU Shreveport, contributing three RBIs, while pitchers AJ Fritz and Isaac Rohde showcased their skills on the mound, with Rohde ultimately securing the win.
For Texas Wesleyan, Garcia and Tomlinson led the offensive charge with critical hits, but it wasn't enough to overcome LSU Shreveport's performance.
The game concluded the regular season, ending with an overall 27-18 record and 15-9 in conference. Next up for the Rams will be the conference tournament in Oklahoma City next weekend, with brackets scheduled to be released by the conference on Sunday afternoon.
