LANGSTON, Okla. – Over the weekend, Texas Wesleyan University faced Langston University in their final regular season series of their year The Rams opened the series with a dominating 26-8 victory, followed by a 14-7 triumph in game two. The final two games would find the Rams splitting with the Lions, falling in game three 3-4 and closing the series with a 14-10 win.
In game the Lions would take the early 4-2 lead over Texas Wesleyan after the 1
st inning. The Rams Would score 6 runs in the next two innings while Langston went scoreless. Texas Wesleyan would continue to put points on the board after scoring another five runs. Langston would do their best to keep the game within reach, however the Rams would score a season high 13 runs to end the game in the 5
th inning.
As a team, The Rams reached the bases on 26 hits and zero errors. Meanwhile, the Lions tallied nine hits and three errors.
Game two would find the Rams trailing early before an impressive 3
rd inning that would find the two teams knotted up at 4-4. Langston found themselves in a slight drought for the next innings as the Rams would outscore the Lions 10-3 to close the game out.
As a team, the Rams reached the bases on 15 hits and three errors.
Devin Dunn would lead the Rams for runs in the victory, while
Alyssa Bates also had a great day at the plate and would finish with three runs and four RBI.
The final Day of action would see the Rams drop a game to Langston in a low scoring contest. The Rams Would have an early 3-2 lead before being shut down for the next five innings. The Lions would get the best of Texas Wesleyan as they would go up with two late runs during the bottom of the 6
th inning to win the game 4-3.
In the final game of the series the two teams would be in a battle early before the Rams would once again break free to outscore their opponents. After a solid six run inning at the top of the 5
th, the Rams would take the 14-10 victory.
Krysta White would lead the Rams with three runs and two RBI, while
Kylie Barnes led with four RBI and a single run.
The Rams finished conference with a record of 16-20 and have locked up the number six seed in this year's Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament starting on Thursday.
