ALEXANDRIA, LA - In a closely contested season opener on the road, Texas Wesleyan University (TXWES) fell to LSU Alexandria (LSU-A) 2-1 at the LSU Alexandria Stadium.
The game started with both teams challanging for an advantage, but LSU Alexandria's Orin Mitchell struck first in the 8th minute, assisted by Javier Moscardo and Joshua Angel Craven.
TXWES responded with determination and found their equalizer in the 39th minute when Diogo Stefane scored, with Rudy Gonzalez providing the assist.
The second half saw LSU-A retake the lead when Adam Sherwood scored in the 59th minute, thanks to an assist from Joshua Angel Craven. Despite a valiant effort from the Rams, including multiple attempts on goal, they couldn't break through the General's defense to level the score again.
Throughout the match, Texas Wesleyan displayed strong attacking intent, outshooting LSU Alexandria 15-10, with 4 shots on target compared to 5 from their opponents.
