FORT WORTH, TX - On Thursday, Texas Wesleyan faced a challenging start to their season with a 3-0 defeat against Jarvis Christian College at Martin Field in Fort Worth, Texas.
The game's beginning proved critical for Texas Wesleyan, with Jarvis Christian scoring their first goal just 3 minutes in. Hariklia Sotelo's early strike set the pace, followed quickly by Valerie Morales doubling the lead in the 5th minute. Texas Wesleyan struggled to regain control and break through the strong defense of Jarvis Christian.
Despite making ten shots, with seven on target, Texas Wesleyan could not find the back of the net. The team's attempts were thwarted by a solid performance from Jarvis Christian's goalkeeper, Andrea Cepeda, who made seven critical saves to keep her team's clean sheet intact.
The second half saw no relief for Texas Wesleyan as Morales added her second goal in the 84th minute, further sealing the result. Although Texas Wesleyan had more corner kicks (3 to Jarvis Christian's 0), they could not capitalize on these chances, which proved to be a missed opportunity.
The game also saw a yellow card issued to Isabella Kingsakongthong late in the match. Â
The Rams will next play at Martin Field on Monday against Wiley College, with the match scheduled to sit on the pitch at 5 PM.
