MSOC: TXWES Beats TX College at Home 5-0

FORT WORTH, TX - Texas Wesleyan claimed a 5-0 victory over Texas College on Monday at Martin Field in Fort Worth.

The Rams jumped out to an early lead, netting three goals in the first half and adding two more in the second, cruising to their fifth win.

The Rams' scoring began in the 13th minute when Luis Gallegos found the net, assisted by Mathis Guffroy. Just seven minutes later, Guffroy scored on a penalty kick after a foul inside the box. He struck again in the 22nd minute with his second goal, assisted by his brother Louis Guffroy, extending the lead to 3-0.

Texas Wesleyan's attack continued in the second half with Alvaro Gutierrez adding a goal in the 53rd minute, assisted by Daniel Jimenez. In the 62nd minute, Louis Guffroy capped off the scoring with his second goal, assisted by Chandler Brookins.

Texas Wesleyan dominated the match with 16 shots, 10 of which were on target, while Texas College managed just four shots, only one on goal. Texas College goalkeeper Juan Zapata made five saves but could not withstand the Rams' relentless pressure.

In addition to their superior offense, Texas Wesleyan controlled the set pieces, earning seven corner kicks compared to just one for Texas College. The Rams also displayed discipline, with only two yellow cards issued to Texas Wesleyan players, compared to four for Texas College.

The win improved Texas Wesleyan's record to 5-3-0, while Texas College fell to 1-2-9.

The Rams will next play at Martin Field at 7:30 p.m. on September 25.
