WSOC: Rams Push Bethel to Tie at Martin Field

FORT WORTH, TX - On Monday at Martin Field, Texas Wesleyan and Bethel (KS) played to a dramatic 4-4 draw.

Bethel (KS) took an early lead just 1:30 into the match, with Leonie Kuhrt finding the back of the net. Texas Wesleyan responded strongly, equalizing in the 33rd minute when Alexa Bezpalko scored her first goal of the game.

The Rams took the lead shortly before halftime, with Mikayla Trevino netting a goal at the 44:42 mark, assisted by Kristine Garcia.

Texas Wesleyan extended their lead in the second half when Garcia added a goal of her own in the 78th minute, assisted by Isabella Kingsakongthong. However, Bethel (KS) fought back almost immediately.

Just one minute later, Malayasia Larque scored to bring Bethel within a goal, assisted by Kuhrt. Larque struck again in the 87th minute to level the score at 3-3.

With momentum on their side, Bethel (KS) took the lead in the 88th minute as Madison Davis scored, assisted by Larque, completing a remarkable comeback. However, Texas Wesleyan refused to surrender, and in the final minute of regulation, Kingsakongthong equalized with a goal, assisted by Garcia, securing the 4-4 draw.

Statistically, Texas Wesleyan led in shots (10 to Bethel's 9) and corner kicks (5 to Bethel's 4), while both teams had similar save counts, with Bethel recording three and Texas Wesleyan four.

The match was fiercely contested, with Bethel committing eight fouls and Texas Wesleyan six.

Both teams move forward with identical conference records of 0-0-0, with Texas Wesleyan now standing at 2-5-1 and Bethel (KS) at 2-2-1.

The Rams will next play on the road when they open conference play against John Brown University on September 28 in Siloam Springs, AR.
