McPHERSON, KS – On Saturday, Texas Wesleyan University swept Central Christian College (KS) 3-0 improving their record to 11-5 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
The first set was fiercely contested, with the Rams securing a narrow 25-23 win. Kills from Makenna Gantt and Emily Lewis helped TXWES jump out to an early 4-1 lead. Central Christian fought back, tying the score at 21-21, but a clutch service ace by Sydney Alexander sealed the set for the Rams.
The second set saw TXWES continue to capitalize on CCCK's mistakes. Kills by Amanda Dotter and Shelby Remenar and service aces from Ruby Ruhmor gave Texas Wesleyan a slight advantage. The Tigers attempted to respond with great plays from Sydney Alexander and Grace Pavelka but struggled with attack errors. The Rams pulled ahead and finished the set 25-20, giving them a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third and final set, TXWES started strong, going up 4-0 with kills by Gantt and service aces from Ruby O'Brien. CCCK called a timeout but continued to struggle with errors. Despite efforts from Lyric Biggiers and Sydney Alexander, Texas Wesleyan's efficient play, led by Dotter and Lauran Richards, maintained their advantage. A service ace from Emily Lewis secured the final set 25-19, completing the sweep.
Texas Wesleyan outperformed Central Christian across key statistical categories. The Rams led in kills (45-26), aces (8-6), and blocks (7-7). Gantt led Texas Wesleyan with 11 kills, while Ruby O'Brien contributed 22 assists and three service aces. Central Christian's Amanda Dotter led her team with 12 kills and nine digs. Texas Wesleyan's defensive effort, led by Makenna Dillow's seven digs, played a crucial role in the victory.
The Rams will return home to continue conference play against Southwestern Christian College at 6 p.m. on Friday.
