FORT WORTH, TX - Texas Wesleyan University lost a narrow game to friends 1-0 in a non-conference match held at Martin Field on Friday. The loss brings TXWES to a 1-4-0 record for the season, while Friends record improves to 3-1-0.
The game's only goal came in the 26th minute when Keily Larosee of Friends University found the back of the net. The goal came after a blocked shot earlier in the match. Larosee's effort proved decisive as Friends managed to maintain their lead throughout the match despite Texas Wesleyan's persistent attacks.
The Rams applied pressure throughout the game, particularly in the second half, but was unable to break through Friends' defense. The Rams registered ten total shots, with four on target, forcing Friends' goalkeeper Morgan Wilkinson to make four saves. Notably, Texas Wesleyan had several close chances, including a shot that hit the post by Alexa Bezpalko in the 64th minute and another attempt by Mikayla Trevino that struck the crossbar in the 76th minute.
Friends, on the other hand, managed only four shots, three of which were on target. Texas Wesleyan's goalkeeper Maggie Campbell recorded two saves, helping keep the game close. Friends held a slight edge in corner kicks, 2-1, while Texas Wesleyan led with three corner kicks overall. Both teams displayed physical play, combining for 23 fouls, with Texas Wesleyan committing 12 and Friends 11. Â
The Rams will next travel on Monday to play UT Permian Basin, with the match scheduled to start at 5 PM.
