FORT WORTH, TX — The Texas Wesleyan University Rams delivered a commanding performance against Central Christian College (KS) on Saturday, securing an 88-32 victory at the Sid Richardson Center.
The Rams improved to 11-5 overall and 7-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, while the Tigers fell to 2-12 and 0-10 in the SAC.
The Rams set the tone early, outscoring the Tigers 25-5 in the first quarter. Savanna Smith led the charge with back-to-back three-pointers, and Taryn Wills dominated the boards with four offensive rebounds. The Rams' aggressive defense forced turnovers, creating fast-break opportunities that widened the lead. Contributions from Imani Mitchell and Kameryn Phillips highlighted Texas Wesleyan's balanced attack.
In the second quarter, the Rams' dominance continued, fueled by consistent scoring in the paint from Kamryn Gibson and Aniyah Sanford. Payton Foster drained a critical three-pointer, and Phillips capitalized on turnovers to add to the lead. Despite a buzzer-beating layup by Central Christian's Chloe Clevenger, the Rams entered halftime with a commanding 43-13 advantage.
Texas Wesleyan extended its lead in the third quarter, outscoring Central Christian 22-5. Smith opened the half with another three-pointer, and Sanford and Mitchell added long-range shots of their own. The Rams' defensive pressure remained relentless, with Sophia Hurtado forcing multiple turnovers. Gibson capped the quarter with a long-range jumper, pushing the lead to 65-18.
The fourth quarter saw the Rams at their most dominant, leading by as many as 59 points. Phillips' back-to-back layups, Mitchell's three-point play, and Wills' continued rebounding dominance sealed the victory. Central Christian managed a late three-pointer by Charmayne Marshall but could not close the gap.
Smith led the Rams with 13 points, while Phillips, Foster, and Gibson each added 12. The Rams forced 20 turnovers and tallied 33 points off those opportunities, holding the Tigers to 21.8% shooting.
The Rams return to the Sid Richardson Center next Saturday to play Southwestern Christian at 2 p.m.
