FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Wesleyan University is excited to announce the signing of Sebastian Velasquez, an accomplished golfer from El Paso, TX, who will join the Rams golf program in the Fall of 2025. Velasquez, a standout at Coronado High School, is set to graduate this spring before embarking on his collegiate golf career at Wesleyan.
Velasquez brings a wealth of experience to the program, having competed at a high level nationwide. A long-time member of First Tee El Paso, he has been coached by Kristi Albers, the Executive Director of the First Tee chapter in El Paso and a former LPGA Tour professional with over 20 years of experience.
Sebastian's impressive resume includes competing in premier tournaments such as the Pure Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach, where he partnered with PGA Tour Champions player Paul Stankowski to secure a second-place finish in the Pro-Junior event. Additionally, he has teed it up in events like the World Teen Championship at Pinehurst and the PGA Junior Championship at Congressional, all while earning numerous titles in high school, local, state, and regional competitions.
Head Coach Kevin Long expressed his enthusiasm for adding Velasquez to the team, stating, "We are very excited to have Sebastian join us next year and believe he will have an outstanding career here at Wesleyan. He is an accomplished player who has competed in high-level events nationwide and will continue to improve throughout his time in college golf. Most importantly, he is a young man with great character and a good student who will fit into our team-first culture."
