FORT WORTH - Texas Wesleyan University (2-7-2, 0-4-0 SAC) fell to John Brown University (6-2-3, 3-0-1) by a score of 4-0 in Thursday night's contest.
In the first half, the Golden Eagles came out of the gate aggressive with several shots on goal to keep the Rams on their heels. Goalie
Hannah Smith kept the Rams defense alive with three saves early in the half. The Rams and Golden Eagles remained locked at 0-0 until the 27th minute when the Golden Eagles struck first with the first goal of the match. Just a few minutes later the Golden Eagles scored once again by result of an own goal on the Rams. After the two sudden goals, the Rams remained resilient with stopping several more attacks to keep the score 2-0 headed into halftime.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles struck twice within the first ten minutes to go up 4-0 and take control of the match. The Rams showed strong defensive efforts for the remainder of the half and continued to push the Golden Eagles' defense. The Rams had several strong opportunities and attempted to use counter attacks to close the gap. The Rams unfortunately were held scoreless and feel short by a final score of 4-0.
The Rams offense was quiet, but they had some strong defensive efforts with Smith having a season high 10 saves.
Bailey Clark had the lone shot on goal for the Rams in the match.
"Unfortunately we lost to a really good team, but we showed a lot of heart and determination that should help us grow as a team down the stretch" said head coach Katie Bond.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 11 as they travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Stars of Oklahoma City University at 1pm.
