WSOC: Rams Fall to Stars in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY - Texas Wesleyan University (2-8-2, 0-5-0 SAC) showcased a resilient defense and standout goalkeeping from Hannah Smith in a hard-fought match, falling 2-0 to Oklahoma City University (10-1-2, 3-1-1 SAC) on Saturday despite limiting the Stars' potent attack through much of the contest.

Smith made 10 saves for the Rams, turning away multiple threats from Oklahoma City's Reese Roberts and Saizlee Carlton to keep the game within reach. Texas Wesleyan generated offensive opportunities, including a pair of shots from Natalie Ipina — one saved in the first half and another just wide in the second — highlighting the team's determination against a tough opponent.

Oklahoma City broke through in the 21st minute when Kayleigh Haygood scored off an assist from Ryann Brooks for her 10th goal of the season. Chloi Thurman added the second in the 54th minute, assisted by Haygood and Brooks.

The Rams' substitutions, including Brinkley Williams and Ipina, injected energy, and the team avoided major fouls while forcing several offside calls on the Stars.

The Rams return to action on Oct.18 against Southwestern Christian University for Senior Day at 1 p.m. at the pitch on Martin Field.
