FORT WORTH - Texas Wesleyan University (8-8-0, 2-5-0 SAC) fell to Nelson University (6-6-3, 1-4-2 SAC) 1-0 in Tuesday's contest.
In the first half, the Rams got things started off with a shot on goal, followed by three shots from the Lions. The Rams and Lions stayed aggressive as the ball went back and forth with both teams trading shots, looking to take advantage and take control of the match. Late in the first half, the Lions had four shots in four minutes to put the Rams on their heels. Just minutes later, in the 42nd minute, the Lions struck first as they took a 1-0 lead going into the half.
In the second half, the Lions were the one to get things started offensively with a shot in the first minute. The Rams followed that up with several shots of their own, with a few going off of the crossbar. The Rams were adding pressure to the Lions defense as they were shooting relentlessly and getting numerous corner kicks. Both teams battled as the clock was winding down with neither team willing to give up the next goal. The Rams put several shots on net as time expired and the Lions took home the 1-0 win.
Louis Guffroy and Diogo Stephane led the team with three shots each.
Axel Tonietto recorded four saves with one allowed goal for the Rams.
The Rams travel to Goodwell, OK to take on Oklahoma Panhandle State on Friday, October 24 at 2pm.
