MSOC: Texas Wesleyan Secures Victory Over Oklahoma Panhandle State in Spirited Soccer Match

GOODWELL - Texas Wesleyan University (9-8-0, 3-5-0 SAC) kicked off the game with a bang, clinching a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State University (6-4-5, 2-3-3 SAC)  in a lively non-conference match-up on Friday.

The Rams wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Nathaniel Neang scoring the game's only goal just 65 seconds into the match, assisted by Rudy Gonzalez and Peter Tenorio. The early strike set the tone for Texas Wesleyan's aggressive play, as they maintained offensive pressure throughout the game. Diogo Stefane, Louis Guffroy, and Amadou Diallo each tested the Aggies' goalkeepers, Olai Caicoya and Aron Kanyai, with shots on target, while Leonardo Coronado struck the post in a near-miss during the first half.

Goalkeeper Axel Tonietto anchored the Rams' defense, making crucial saves, including stopping shots from Oklahoma Panhandle State's Othman Gherab and Calum Murphy. Despite facing three corner kicks and multiple shots from the Aggies, Texas Wesleyan's backline held firm, limiting Oklahoma Panhandle State's scoring opportunities.

The second half saw the Rams continue their attacking momentum, with Guffroy, Tenorio, and Joel Kisukulu generating chances, though the Aggies' defense blocked several attempts. Both teams played with intensity, as evidenced by yellow cards issued to Texas Wesleyan's Stefane and Neang, and Oklahoma Panhandle State's Hew Brown and Alami Senhaji. Despite the physicality, the Rams maintained their composure to secure the shutout.

The Rams will close the regular season against MACU on the road Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
