MSOC: Rams Fall in Hard Battle at MACU

OKLAHOMA CITY - Texas Wesleyan University (9-9-0. 3-6-0 SAC) battled through a physical Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer match before falling 2-0 to Mid-America Christian University (7-7-4, 5-2-2 SAC) on Tuesday.

The Rams forced MACU goalkeeper Alvaro Morera into four saves and generated a late corner kick while holding the Evangels scoreless for the first 63 minutes. Axel Tonietto made five saves in goal for Texas Wesleyan, including a pair of stops during a second-half barrage.

Mid-America Christian (record unavailable) broke through on a Papa Toure penalty kick at 63:47 and added insurance when Joao Victor scored off assists from Ryan Jeanfreau and Carlos Lobo at 84:46.

Texas Wesleyan earned an early corner in the fourth minute and threatened in the final minutes with shots from Alex Orellana and Joel Kisukulu. The Rams committed multiple fouls, resulting in yellow cards to Nathaniel Neang and Peter Tenorio.

The Rams must now sit and wait for the completion of conference play later this week to see if they are able to earn a spot in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
