SB: Rams Split Series with Mustangs

Fort Worth, TX – Texas Wesleyan (1-5) split a doubleheader against Central Baptist College (3-9) on Friday afternoon.

In game 1 the Rams and Mustangs were in a pitching duel with strong performances on the mound from the Rams' Kylie Barnes, and the Mustangs' Alex Jeter. After 3 innings of shutout softball, the Mustangs struck first with a home run and an RBI-scoring double to take the lead 2-0.

Going to the bottom of the 5th, the Rams' Haylie Delarosa crushed an RBI-triple to left field and quickly got the Rams on the board. That hit was soon followed by a quick single from Ashley Darilek to bring Delarosa home, tying the game at 2.

The Rams offense exploded just 20 minutes later, putting up 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Abbie Bird had a loud start to the inning, hitting a towering home run over the right center wall, her first on the season. The Rams followed with 3 doubles shortly after from Kadynce Crenshaw, Alyssa Bates, and Ashley Darilek. Before the inning was over, Kylie Barnes made sure to shut the door on the Mustangs with a massive 3-run home run to eventually help the Rams win 9-2.

Barnes was a terror at the dish and picked up her first win of the season, bringing her record to 1-2 after throwing a complete game by striking out 6 and only giving up 3 hits.
