FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Wesleyan University (2-6) and the Tabor College Bluejays (2-4) each had one win in the Saturday doubleheader.
IN GAME ONE, the Rams struck early with a first inning RBI single from
Ashley Darilek. Soon after, the Bluejays answered in the top of the second with two runs of their own. The Bluejays continued to string together hits and found themselves up on the Rams 5-1 in the top of the fifth. Going into the bottom of the fifth the Rams found themselves back on the board from a double from Darilek that scored another.
The Rams ended up falling to the Bluejays 9-2 after both teams racked up 10 plus hits.
Kylie Barnes took home the loss, bringing her record this year to 1-3.
IN GAME TWO, the Rams once again found themselves up early after a two RBI double from
Kylie Barnes which scored Darilek and
Haylie Delarosa.
The Rams came through defensively at every turn and only allowed one run in the bottom of the fifth on a one pitch home run.
Both teams were neck and neck throughout the game, in both the top of the sixth and seventh the Bluejays had runners in scoring position with one out or less and both times
Abbie Bird came through when her team needed her most.
Bird picked up her first win on the season, only allowing six hits through seven innings of work, bringing her record to 1-3.
The Rams' next game is on Feb. 21 against Langston University to start conference play.
