SB: Rams Tame Lions in Game One and Two

FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Wesleyan University (4-6) took a 2-0 series lead against Langston University (0-6) to begin conference play.

In game one, the Rams quickly found themselves in the hole from a costly error that allowed the Lions to put two on the board in the top of the first but were quickly answered by an RBI double from Kylie Barnes to end the first at 2-1. Throughout the game, Barnes pitched a dominant game only allowing 1 earned run.

The Rams defense figured things out defensively after a rough start, but on the flip side, the bats were scorching, in only a six-inning contest, the Rams collected 11 runs on 14 hits. Out of the nine batters in the Rams lineup, eight of them had an RBI to contribute to the win. Barnes stood out by going a perfect four for four with four RBIs. The Rams came across victorious 11-3.
Barnes finished with the win, that brings her record to 2-3 on the season.

In game two, the Rams were the ones to start hot and take an early 2-0 lead after the first from a two RBI double from Barnes to score Ashley Darilek and Haylie Delarosa. Soon after the Rams found themselves in a pitching duel, where Abbie Bird would never falter.

Delarosa added some much-needed offensive presence by collecting two hits and had two stolen bases to help the Rams find the plate a few more times. The Rams ended the game with a shutout win of 4-0 over the Lions.

Bird has put together back-to-back great performances on the mound while also picking up two consecutive wins. Bird pitched the second shutout of her career, and her first of 2025, bringing her record to 2-3 on the season as well.

The Rams battle the Lions once again tomorrow at 12pm and 2pm to finish their first conference series.
