SB: Rams Start Perfect in Conference Play

FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Wesleyan University (6-6) defeated Langston University (0-8) in a series sweep to start conference play 4-0. The Rams have begun conference play 4-0 in back-to-back seasons.

In game one, the Rams once again got quick production from Kylie Barnes on the mound and at the plate, she had three RBIs that helped score Haylie Delarosa three times as well. The Rams were up 3-1, heading into the bottom of the sixth, then in the blink of an eye, the Rams poured on five runs to make it 8-1. The bottom of the sixth was put together with keen eyes to allow walks as well as some huge hits from Barnes and EB Zimmerman.

Before the game was over Langston battled back by scoring six in the top of the seventh, Dara Muller came in to shut down the Lions to get her first save on the season.
Barnes got the win, bringing her season record to 3-3 after two strait victories while on the mound.

In game two, the Rams had Abbie Bird on the mound, and after a shutout performance in her previous outing, she didn't miss a beat, only allowing four hits with one run as she pitched a full game.

Delarosa continued to be a menace for the Lions pitching staff as she went three for four behind the plate along with scoring two runs of her own. Ashley Darilek contributed two hits of her own that drove in Delarosa both times. Ultimately, giving the Rams the victory with a score of 7-1.

Bird picked up her second straight victory, bringing her record to an even 3-3 on the season.

The Rams offense continued to find rhythm as they outscored the Lions 30-11 on the weekend.

The Rams will face Dallas Christian on March 4 in a doubleheader for their next pair of games before continuing their conference match ups.
