FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Wesleyan University extended its undefeated start to the season with two dominant victories over Benedictine College (KS) at Sycamore Park, winning 7-2 and 9-0.
In the first matchup, the Rams (5-0) secured their win with runs in five consecutive innings. Logan Silvertooth led the way, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, including a solo home run in the fifth inning. Brandon Rincones and Dylan Masanda each contributed key RBI hits, while Eric DeAnda added a two-run single to extend the lead.
Sutton Tidwell (1-0) earned the win, throwing 3.1 innings while allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts. Ty Sansom provided solid relief, striking out six batters in three innings while surrendering just one unearned run.
Benedictine (0-3) managed six hits in the loss, with Z. Tillman and M. McCavitt driving in the Ravens' only runs.
The Rams followed up with an even more dominant performance in the second game, blanking Benedictine 9-0 to improve to 7-0 on the season. Texas Wesleyan wasted no time, scoring five runs in the first inning, highlighted by Austin Hubbell's three-run home run.
Brendon Vela and Rody Garcia set the tone early with RBI hits, while Jean-Luc Bussieres sealed the win with a two-run triple in the sixth. The Rams' offense tallied 14 hits, with Hubbell, Garcia, and Tahir Meulens each recording multiple hits.
On the mound, Travis Belz (1-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings, striking out two. Seth Wright delivered an impressive five-inning relief appearance, allowing just one hit while striking out eight.
Benedictine's struggles at the plate continued, as the Ravens managed only two hits and struck out 10 times.
With another pair of strong performances, Texas Wesleyan continues to showcase its offensive firepower and pitching depth early in the season. The Rams will look to maintain their momentum as they prepare for their next series.
The Rams wil play next Friday in the Texas Round Up at Sycamore Park with two games against Midland College on Friday and the University of Houston at Victoria on Sunday.
