LECOMPTE, LA – Texas Wesleyan University opened its 2025 season with back-to-back shutout losses at the Generals Showdown, hosted by LSU Alexandria, on Friday at Champions Sportsplex.
The Rams (0-1) fell 7-0 to Texas A&M-Texarkana (5-0) in the home opener. The Eagles capitalized early, scoring twice in the first inning on a sacrifice fly and an unearned run. A solo home run in the fourth extended their lead before they tacked on two more runs.
Texas Wesleyan struggled to string together offense despite collecting seven hits. Jaelin Ornelas led the team with two hits, while Abbie Bird (0-1) took the loss on the mound. Bird pitched six innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on 12 hits with one strikeout. Morgan Benge (2-0) earned the win for the Eagles, throwing six scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
In the second game, Texas Wesleyan (0-2) suffered a 4-0 loss to Louisiana Christian University (5-1). The Wildcats struck in the first inning with an RBI single from Bevan Hartnett and added two more runs in the fifth on a two-run double by Jordan Dauthier. Another run in the sixth sealed the victory.
Kylie Barnes (0-1) went the distance for the Rams, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with six strikeouts. However, the Texas Wesleyan offense was stifled, managing just two hits off Louisiana Christian's Morgan Louviere (2-0), who tossed a complete-game shutout with three strikeouts.
The Rams close out play at the Generals Showdown with another doubleheader. TXWES will play William Cary University at 10:30 a.m., followed by a nightcap against Host Louisiana State University at Alexandria at 12:30 p.m.
