LECOMPTE, LA - Texas Wesleyan dropped both games on day two of the Generals Showdown, falling to William Carey University 7-4 and LSU-Alexandria 4-1.
Despite a strong start in Game 1 with a 3-0 lead. However, the Rams were stalled by a four-run rally from William Carey in the fifth and sixth innings.
Jaelin Ornelas' RBI single in the first gave Texas Wesleyan a 1-0 advantage. Haylie Delarosa added another run in the second with a single to third base, bringing in EB Zimmerman. Kadynce Crenshaw's sacrifice pop-up later in the inning made it 3-0.
However, William Carey responded with a powerful rally in the fifth and sixth innings. Albanie Fussell's double and Julia Shaw's two-run double tied the game, and in the sixth, Fussell's two-run double and Shaw's two-run homer sealed the win for the Crusaders. Ornelas' solo home run in the seventh was not enough to overcome William Carey.
Kylie Barnes took the loss, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits. Despite the setback, Texas Wesleyan collected eight hits, with Ornelas leading the way with two RBIs.
In Game 2, Texas Wesleyan struggled to break through against LSU-A's Haley Primrose, who limited the Rams to just one run in a complete-game performance.
The Generals took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on Kilee Moody's RBI single. LSU Alexandria added to their lead in the third and fourth innings, highlighted by Julia Kwakernaak's RBI double and Alyssa Soileau's two-run homer.
Texas Wesleyan's lone run came in the sixth when Ornelas singled to center, driving in Delarosa, who reached base on an error. However, the Rams could not break through against Primrose, who struck out eight.
Abbie Bird pitched a complete game for Texas Wesleyan, allowing four earned runs on 11 hits. The Rams managed five hits, with Delarosa and Ornelas each contributing one.
