TEXARKANA – Texas Wesleyan University (18-8) had difficulty containing Texas A&M-Texarkana's offense, falling 12-2 in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday.
The Eagles (18-6) took control in the second inning, capitalizing on errors and timely hitting to plate six runs. A&M-Texarkana extended its lead with three more runs in the fourth and two in the fifth before adding a final run in the sixth.
The Rams got on the board in the second inning when Dylan Masanda's sacrifice groundout brought home Ryan Flores. However, Texas Wesleyan managed just one more run, which came in the seventh on a bases-loaded walk by Rody Garcia.
Travis Belz (2-1) took the loss for the Rams, allowing nine runs—six earned—on seven hits over 3.1 innings, striking out three and walking two. Jacob Guzman and Josh Lincoln combined to pitch the final 2.2 innings, surrendering three additional runs.
Texas Wesleyan tallied eight hits in the game, with Tahir Meulens and Austin Hubbell each recording two. Defensively, the Rams committed six errors, leading to multiple unearned runs.
For the Eagles, Anthony Galindo (2-0) earned the win, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings in relief while allowing two hits and striking out two. Jose Parreno led the offensive effort, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs and a triple. Austin Kerns added a two-run homer in the second inning.
The Rams return to conference play at Sycamore Park on Friday with a doubleheader against the Central Christian College of Kansas Tigers. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
