MCPHERSON, KS – Texas Wesleyan University (14-10) defeated Central Christian College (KS) (2-18) in a doubleheader Saturday with the Rams winning both to complete the series sweep.
In game one,
Kylie Barnes got things started for the Rams with a two RBI triple to start the game, putting the Rams up 2-0 early. Later in the top of the fourth,
Ashley Darilek got on base and recorded an RBI from an error on the Tiger's left fielder, allowing the Rams to increase their lead even more. Just one inning later the Rams got some serious production to put some more runs on the board.

Haylie Delarosa got on base that resulted in an RBI walk, and
EB Zimmerman came up to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to score yet another run before the inning was over. After five it was the Rams leading 6-0.
Going to the sixth inning, Barnes came up to the plate to lead things off, she then took one of the first pitches she saw and drove it over the fence to dead center, her fourth on the year. The Tigers scored their first run later that inning, but the Rams answered back in the seventh to end the game 8-1 in favor of the Rams.
Abbie Bird was outstanding once again on the mound after throwing a full seven innings and striking out five while only allowing three hits. Bird recorded her fourth victory in a row and brought her season record to 8-4.
In game two, the Rams offense exploded in two individual innings to help crush the Tigers in the final game of the weekend. Bird got the Rams on the board first with an RBI single in the top of the second, the Rams scored first in all four games this weekend.
In the third inning the Rams exploded offensively, scoring eight runs in just the third. Barnes got things started with an RBI double, then
Kadynce Crenshaw had an RBI single. Shortly after the bases were loaded, then cleared from a three RBI double off the wall from Bird. Darilek scored another with a sacrifice and Barnes came to the plate again in the inning and brought in two more with a two RBI single. The Tigers answered with five runs of their own to end a 13 run third inning with the Rams leading 10-5.
Just two innings later, the Rams once again lit up the scoreboard with another seven runs.
Ally Hinojosa got things started off this time with a quick RBI single, then Crenshaw helped score another with an RBI double. The next batter, Ornelas, scored another, then Raegan Avants scored one as the result of an error. Delarosa ripped an RBI single, then shortly after, Barnes scored two more with a two RBI Single to end the top of the seventh. The game finished with a Rams victory of 17-6.
The Rams offense was given serious life this weekend as they scored 44 runs in these four games while compiling 63 hits.
The Rams return to action next weekend at home against Nelson University with a four game series taking place on Friday and Saturday.
