FORT WORTH, TX- Texas Wesleyan University (15-11) and Nelson University (10-17) split a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon with the Lions taking game one and the Rams securing game two.
In game one, Texas Wesleyan got off to a strong start in the first inning when Ashley Darilek singled, bringing home Haylie Delarosa for the early lead. The offense exploded in the second inning, where they scored six runs. Key highlights included Darilek's RBI single, a two-RBI double from Kylie Barnes, and a sacrifice fly by Delarosa. By the end of the second, the Rams led 7-0. However, Nelson fought back, scoring two runs in the third, and adding three more in the fifth and sixth innings. A critical two-run homer by M. Wiggins and a timely double by B. Kinnibrug helped their team to tie the game in the sixth inning. Nelson capped off their rally with a five-run sixth inning, making it 9-8, a lead they would hold onto for the remainder of the game.

Pitcher V. Guzman earned the win (3-1) for Nelson, while Reagan Avants took the loss (0-1) for Texas Wesleyan. Pylant earned the save for Nelson with a scoreless seventh inning.

In game two, Texas Wesleyan bounced back with a commanding 7-2 victory over Nelson. The Rams offense was firing from the first inning, where they jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Darilek's double brought in Delarosa, followed by a 2-RBI single from Devin Dunn. A sacrifice fly by K. Crenshaw in the second added another run to make it 6-1. Nelson managed to get on the scoreboard in the second and fifth innings, but the Rams' lead was never in doubt. M. Wiggins' home run in the second inning was the only other scoring highlight for Nelson. The Rams maintained their offensive pressure throughout the game. In the sixth inning, they added one more run to secure the win, with K. Barnes earning the win on the mound, going the distance with 7 solid innings of work, allowing 6 hits and 2 earned runs.
