SB: Rams Fall to Evangels

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Texas Wesleyan University (20-18) lost in a Monday doubleheader against Mid-America Christian University (23-15) as the final week of conference play approaches.

In game one, the game started as a pitchers' duel as both teams were kept off the scoreboard for the first three innings. In the top of the fourth, Kylie Barnes got the scoring started with a two-run home run to bring home Jaelin Ornelas and lift the Rams to an early 2-0 lead. The Evangels answered with a two RBI double off the wall to send the game into the fifth tied at two.

The Evangels then had a strong inning in the bottom of the sixth as they scored four runs to put a serious lead on the Rams. The Rams had two throwing errors and gave up a 2 RBI triple to allow the Evangels to score in the inning. Those four runs proved to be the difference as the Evangels won game one with a score of 6-2.

Kylie Barnes was given the loss, causing her season record to fall to 11-8 on the year.

In game two, the Evangels struck fast as they had three RBI hits, two of which were for extra bases to put the Evangels up 3-0 after the first inning. The Rams had put a few runners on the base, but unfortunately couldn't push any across as the Evangels continued to score with a sacrifice fly in the fourth, scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth, and a solo home run in the sixth. The Rams finished game two with five hits and no runs to show for it as they fell 6-0.

Abbie Bird was tacked with the loss in game two, causing her season record to fall to 10-9.

The Rams remain in fourth place in the conference standings as they look to take on Oklahoma City this weekend in a crucial conference weekend series.
