MSOC: Rams Secure Road Victory in Austin

AUSTIN - Texas Wesleyan (2-0-0) secured a 2-0 victory over Huston-Tillotson (1-1-0) in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon in Round Rock, Texas, with both goals coming in each half to maintain their undefeated start to the season.

The first half saw Texas Wesleyan take an early advantage against Huston-Tillotson as Chandler Brookins scored the first goal in the 34th minute, assisted by Louis Guffroy, putting them ahead 1-0. Axel Tonietto's performance in goal was notable, as he saved a penalty kick in the third minute and made multiple key saves throughout the half, including stopping shots from close range by Alejandro Cruz and J.P. Alvarado. The Rams' defense held firm, and despite several offside calls, they maintained their lead going into halftime.

The second half began with the Rams maintaining pressure early, highlighted by Diogo Stefane's goal in the 50th minute, assisted by Rudy Gonzalez, marking Stefane's first goal of the season. Despite multiple attempts, including shots by Pablo Bances and Fabricio Martinez, goalkeeper Luke Phillips of Huston-Tillotson stood firm with several key saves. The half saw Texas Wesleyan players disciplined with yellow cards, yet they successfully held their lead to finish the game with a 2-0 victory.

Brookins scored the game-winning goal for the Rams, contributing one shot on goal. Stefane also found the back of the net, with one goal and a total of three shots. Gonzalez and Guffroy each provided an assist, with Guffroy contributing three shots and one shot on goal. Goalkeeper Tonietto played the entire match, securing a shutout with five saves on ten shots faced.

Cruz led the Rams' opponents with four shots, two of which were on goal. Alvarado contributed with two shots, one on target. Christian Kisukulu also added two shots, with one shot on goal and a penalty shot attempt. Goalkeeper Mauricio Olivares recorded one save during his 45 minutes of play, facing eight shots. His counterpart, Phillips, made three saves in his 45 minutes, facing 11 shots.
