MSOC: Rams Fall to Wiley University in Marshall

MARSHALL - Texas Wesleyan University (2-1-0) fell to Wiley University (TX) (1-1-0) with a final score of 2-1 on Thursday afternoon at Pemberton Field in Marshall, Texas.

Texas Wesleyan started strong, with Rudy Gonzales scoring in the 17th minute for an early lead. The team kept up the pressure, with corner kicks by Fabricio Martinez and Louis Guffroy,
but the score stayed the same until Wiley's Aaron Castillo equalized in the 33rd minute. Both teams had chances, including a high shot by Leonardo Coronado in the 44th, and the half ended 1-1.

Texas Wesleyan quickly attacked to start the second half, but Jesus Rodriguez's shot was blocked. They continued to press, with Martinez taking a corner and Guffroy and Diogo Stefane following up, but Wiley's defense, led by goalkeeper Kevin Nievas, held firm. Jesus Diaz made key saves to keep the score tight, but Wiley's Anthony Ulloa scored in the 80th minute, leading to a 2-1 win for the home team.

Gonzales scored the Rams' only goal from his lone shot on target. Martinez contributed three shots, two on goal. Diaz recorded three saves while facing four shots in 45 minutes.
Ulloa stood out for Wiley, scoring one goal on six shots, with four shots on goal. Ulloa's effort included the game-winning goal. Castillo contributed with another goal and took three shots, one of which was on target. In goal, Nievas played a full 90 minutes, allowing one goal while making four saves from five shots faced.

The Rams return home Saturday to play Louisiana State University at Alexandria on the pitch at Martin Field. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
