HAWKINS - Texas Wesleyan (1-0-1) mounted a second-half comeback to secure a 2-2 draw against Jarvis Christian (0-1-1) on the road in Hawkins, TX.
The first half saw a strong offensive effort from Texas Wesleyan, with several early attempts to break through the Jarvis Christian defense.
Jessica Jones initiated the attack with a shot in the 8th minute, followed by
Mackenzie Allen's effort a minute later, both saved by the Bulldogs goalie, Victoria Alcantar. Despite sustained pressure and a flurry of shots from
Haley Ellis, including a corner kick in the 17th minute, Texas Wesleyan was unable to convert, while Jarvis Christian capitalized on their opportunities, scoring twice to establish a 2-0 lead by the end of the half.
The second half began with Texas Wesleyan's
Ally Kolba making an early save against Jarvis Christian's Valerie Morales. Despite an initial save by the opposing goalkeeper,
Shannon Middleton found the net in the 66th minute to put the visiting team on the board. The momentum continued as Jones equalized the score in the 88th minute, bringing the game to a 2-2 tie by the end of the half.
Jones contributed significantly to the effort by scoring one goal and leading with two shots on goal. Middleton also added to the team's efforts with a goal, matching Jones with two shots on target. Allen made her presence felt with one shot on goal. Goalkeeper

When asked about the game "We had a slow start to our game, it was a good test for us being down 2-0 at half. But I'm very proud of the girls for finding the drive to fight back and come out home with the tie" head coach Katie Bond said.
The Rams are back home this weekend to face off with LSU-Alexandria on August 30 at 5PM.
