Brinkley Williams took a corner kick in the 39th minute, attempting to shift momentum, but the half ended with a 2-0 lead for the visitors.
The second half commenced with an early offensive from LSU Alexandria, but the Rams'
Hannah Smith made a crucial save within the first few seconds of action. Despite a goal by Ariana Lowenstein for LSU Alexandria in the 51st minute, Smith continued to demonstrate resilience with multiple saves, including stopping shots from Alexia Bermejo Jo and Audrian Cruz. Williams managed a shot on goal in the 63rd minute, though it was saved by the opposing goalkeeper, as LSU Alexandria maintained their lead through the half's conclusion.
Smith played a crucial role as a goalkeeper for the Rams, accumulating four saves in the second half. Kolba, another key goalkeeper, also contributed with four saves, three of which came in the first half. Williams was active on the field with one shot that was on target, representing the team's offensive efforts.
In a game that tested the resilience and determination of both teams, Head Coach Katie Bond reflected on her team's hard-fought battle against the formidable LSU-A squad.
"This was our toughest battle yet," Bond said. "LSU-A is a well-oiled machine, and because of this game, I think we learned some great lessons and just have to keep moving forward."
The Rams are on the road next week as they travel to Wichita, KS to face off with Freind's University on September 4 at 7pm.
