FB: No. 10 Texas Wesleyan Falls in Season Opener 45-10

COLUMBIA, KY - Texas Wesleyan University (0-1) fell to Lindsey Wilson College (1-0) with a final score of 45-10 in Columbia, Ky., as Lindsey Wilson's passing attack secured four touchdowns.

The first quarter started with Max Luna's 60-yard kickoff and a strong stop by Sir Hill on the return. The defense remained solid as Jaylon Beasley recovered a fumble at the Lindsey Wilson 48, marking a pivotal early moment. Carson Rodgers led a key drive, connecting with TJ Curtis and Sean Smith to set up Luna's 24-yard field goal at 09:12, putting TXWES on the board. Deylon Rodgers later intercepted a pass, but LWC closed the quarter with two touchdowns.

In the second quarter, the Rams capitalized on a strong passing game as Rodgers found Ronnie Schneide for 31 yards, setting up Mark Benjamin's touchdown run at 12:43. Luna's extra point made it 10-14. Despite Colby Dunn and Jordan Crawford's sack, the Blue Raiders scored twice, including one after a strategic timeout at 7:26, ending the half 10-28 for the home team.

Coming out of halftime, the third quarter began with Texas Wesleyan gaining some momentum through consistent plays by Sincere Timpson, who rushed for a total of 18 yards in three consecutive plays. Despite this promising start, a delay of game penalty pushed them back, eventually leading to a punt. Lindsey Wilson quickly capitalized with a 75-yard touchdown pass at 12:11, followed by another touchdown run by Davontaye Saund. Still, Texas Wesleyan's defense responded with a highlight as Jaiden Jones intercepted a pass and returned it 24 yards to the Lindsey 15-yard line, setting up a potential scoring opportunity as the quarter ended.

The fourth quarter picked up with TXWES in possession at the Lindsey Wilson 15-yard line, but they were unable to capitalize as Cole Francis's consecutive incomplete passes stalled the drive. Building on their defensive stand, Lindsey Wilson then orchestrated a long drive, highlighted by Stevin Mack's rushing efforts, culminating in a successful 34-yard field goal by Jadan Burns at 7:48. In response, Texas Wesleyan's Francis connected with Curtis for gains of 5 and 12 yards, but the drive was hampered by a holding penalty, and ultimately, a timeout was called at 5:50 before a punt by Tyler Strumila. The game's final moments saw limited progress for the Rams, as Timpson's rushing attempts and a false start penalty concluded the game with a score of 45-10.
