FORT WORTH - Texas Wesleyan University is thrilled to announce the appointment of
Jackye Barber as the new assistant coach for its beach volleyball program. With an extensive background as both a player and coach, Barber brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the Lady Rams.
Barber's volleyball journey began at Frank Phillips College, where she excelled as a middle hitter and libero over two seasons. Her teams achieved notable success, finishing fourth at nationals during her freshman year and 11th in the nation her sophomore year.
With over 16 years of indoor club coaching and seven years of beach club coaching experience, Barber has established herself as a dynamic leader in the sport. Most recently, she served as head beach coach and assistant indoor coach at Southwest Baptist University, where she helped the beach program set a new win record. Prior to that, Barber owned and directed the Amarillo Good Vibes Volleyball Club, successfully growing both its indoor and beach programs. Under her guidance, multiple beach teams qualified for nationals each year, with many placing in the top 10 across various divisions.
Barber recently relocated to the Fort Worth area with her son, Tayden, and daughter, Teegan. She is eager to contribute to the Lady Rams' pursuit of excellence both on and off the court.
"I'm really excited about the hiring of Coach Jackye, she brings a ton of experience, she knows what a program needs to be successful, head coach Jorge Rodriguiz said. "She will be instrumental in elevating the program to new heights".
