WSOC: Texas Wesleyan Falls to Texas A&M-Victoria on the Road

VICTORIA — Texas Wesleyan University (1-3-2) suffered a 5-0 loss to Texas A&M-Victoria (2-1-1) on Thursday. The Jaguars (2-1-1) dominated the match, scoring once in the first half and adding four goals in the second to secure the victory.

A&M-Victoria struck first in the 39th minute when Arantza Alva scored her first goal of the season. The Jaguars extended their lead early in the second half with Kaitlyn McCarty's goal in the 48th minute. Ayloni Garcia then took over, netting two goals in the 59th and 64th minutes, the latter assisted by Jessica Salkeld. Salkeld capped the scoring in the 82nd minute, assisted by Briana Ortega, for her first goal of the season.

Texas Wesleyan struggled offensively, managing only two shots, one on target, with Caroline Fielding's attempt in the 52nd minute saved by A&M-Victoria goalkeeper Jamie Noriega. The Jaguars, by contrast, recorded 18 shots, 11 on goal, and earned seven corner kicks to none for the Rams.

Ally Kolba started in goal for Texas Wesleyan, making two saves while allowing three goals before Hannah Smith took over in the 61st minute, recording four saves. Noriega earned the win for A&M-Victoria, stopping one shot in 65 minutes before Abree Fry closed out the match.

The Rams were without penalties but committed three fouls, while A&M-Victoria had four. Texas Wesleyan's defense held firm early but couldn't contain the Jaguars' second-half surge.

The Rams will return to action next Wednesday when they play Texas A&M San Antonio at 3 p.m on the pitch at Martin Field.
