WSOC: Rams Hit Equalizer in Second Half to Tie Threshers

NORTH NEWTON, KS - Texas Wesleyan University (1-2-2) tied Bethel College (KS) (0-2-1) 1-1 in Saturday morning's contest.

In the first half, the Rams gave the Threshers a lot to handle as they fired off seven shots in the first 25 minutes of play. In the 32nd minute of the contest, the Threshers struck first as Beth Lloyd put one past golakeeper Hannah Smith to give Bethel the lead 1-0. The Rams continued to take shots on goal, but to no avail as they were held scoreless in the first half by Bethel goalkeeper Jacie Scott.

To start off the second half, the Rams once again found themslves with several scoring opportunities and eventually connected. Caroline Fielding scored her first goal on the season and tie dthe game up at one a piece. The Threshers responded with several shots on goal, all saved by Ally Kolba to keep the game tied. The Rams and Threshers continued to trade blows and came close to breaking it open, but remained tied as time expired.

Jessica Jones led the team with two shots on goal to create offensive pressure, goalkeepers Smith and Kolba combined for four saves to minimize the scoring to only one goal.

The Rams travel to Victoria, TX to take on Texas A&M-Victoria on Thursday, Septmeber 11 at 1pm.
