FORT WORTH — Texas Wesleyan University (10-4, 6-3 SAC) secured a 69-59 victory over John Brown University (8-7, 5-4) on Saturday at the Sid Richardson Center.

 Achieving at least 69 total points in eight consecutive games, Texas Wesleyan continued its offensive consistency.

The game began with Texas Wesleyan taking an early lead, thanks to a free throw by Daniel Oravbiere at the 19:29 mark. John Brown briefly overtook the score with a 3-pointer by Donovan Lovelace at 18:24, but the Rams responded with a layup from Montez Young Jr., assisted by Khalil Turner. Turner continued to be pivotal, contributing to a fast-break dunk at 17:07. 

As the half progressed, Texas Wesleyan capitalized on turnovers, extending their lead to 39-33 by halftime, with Daylan Hamilton closing with a layup in the final minute. Notably, Texas Wesleyan collected 17 offensive rebounds during the game, exceeding their season average of 13.1.

In the second half, Texas Wesleyan maintained a steady lead over the Golden Eagles, highlighted by a 14-point advantage with 1:43 remaining after a dunk by Turner. Hamilton contributed significantly, scoring from the free-throw line and assisting on a Young three-pointer.

 John Brown's Donovan Lovelace kept the visitors within striking distance with late 3-pointers, but Texas Wesleyan's defense, led by Oravbiere's blocks, held firm. The Rams recorded six blocks in the game, surpassing their season average of 4.1, and secured a 69-59 victory as DaeVeon Scott added two free throws in the final seconds. Texas Wesleyan also totaled 24 free throw attempts, surpassing their season average of 18.4.

Texas Wesleyan capitalized on John Brown's 20 turnovers, converting them into 21 points.

Daylan Hamilton scored 19 points and recorded four steals, leading the team's offensive efforts. Khalil Turner added 13 points and collected six rebounds while also posting three steals.

Montez Young, Jr. contributed 12 points and pulled down five rebounds, showcasing his shooting accuracy with two successful 3-pointers. Daniel Oravbiere was a defensive force, blocking four shots and gathering seven rebounds.
