SILOAM SPRINGS — Texas Wesleyan University (13-5, 9-4 SAC) secured a 75-66 victory over John Brown University (9-10, 6-7 SAC) on Thursday night. The Rams capitalized on turnovers, scoring 18 points off the Eagles' 15 turnovers to secure the win.
The game opened with a strong start from John Brown University, who quickly established a 7-point lead. The Rams responded with a 3-pointer from
Anthony Sierras, aiding in narrowing the gap. As the game progressed,
Khalil Turner contributed significantly with a couple of 3-pointers, helping Texas Wesleyan take the lead. By the end of the first half, the Rams held a narrow 35-31 advantage, highlighted by effective scoring and defensive plays, including six steals.
Texas Wesleyan secured a 75-66 victory over the Eagles after a dynamic second half. The teams exchanged leads early, with LePra George's 3-pointer at 19:39 and Josh Stewart's free throws giving John Brown a brief advantage. Turner responded for the Rams, hitting crucial jumpers and free throws to keep the game close.
Daylan Hamilton's late 3-pointer at 1:38 extended Texas Wesleyan's lead, and Sierras sealed the win with two free throws at the 0:17 mark. As time expired, Montez Young Jr. added a fast-break jumper, finalizing the score.
Turner scored 18 points, including three 3-pointers, and added six assists to his performance. Sierras led the team with 22 points, converting all nine of his free throw attempts and posting four steals. Hamilton contributed 13 points, making two 3-pointers and recording two rebounds.
Daniel Oravbiere added eight points and collected four rebounds while tallying two steals.
The game scheduled for Saturday against College of the Ozarks has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a future date. The Rams return to action on January 29 against Wayland Baptist University in the Sid Richardson Center at 8 p.m.
