TOMBALL — Texas Wesleyan University (3-1) secured a decisive 15-1 victory over Jarvis Christian College (0-2) on Friday in game one of a neutral-site matchup, highlighted by 16 hits and five stolen bases.
Texas Wesleyan dominated the second inning with a five-run surge. After
Eric DeAnda scored on a walk by
Jose Rangel,
Jonathan Pena delivered a three-RBI triple, bringing home Rangel,
Giuseppe Buttaci, and
Idelfonso Garcia.
Brendon Vela followed with an RBI single, giving Texas Wesleyan a 5–0 lead.
The momentum continued in the third inning as
Jack Erickson tripled and scored on Buttaci's RBI single.
Marcos Carrion then homered, driving in Buttaci for two more runs, extending the lead to 8–0.
In the fifth inning, the Rams added four more runs. DeAnda scored on a Carrion double, and two runs came home on a balk. Rangel and Vela each contributed RBI doubles, pushing the score to 12–0.
Texas Wesleyan's offense remained potent in the sixth inning.
Daniel Hernandez tripled to bring in
Endi Jaquez, and E. DeAnda added an RBI single, increasing the lead to 14–0.
Vela hit a solo home run in the seventh inning. Jarvis Christian managed to score once in their half of the inning, but the game concluded with a decisive 15–1 victory for the Rams.
Jose Casado delivered a strong performance, pitching 6 innings and allowing only 1 earned run while striking out 9 batters. He limited Jarvis Christian to just 1 hit and 1 walk over 19 at-bats, achieving a WHIP of 0.33. A. Martinez relieved Casado, pitching 1 inning and giving up 1 hit and 3 walks without allowing a run. Despite the walks, Martinez maintained a scoreless outing, grounding out one batter.
Vela collected three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Carrion tallied three hits with a home run and three RBIs, enhancing the offensive output. Casado pitched six innings, allowing one hit and one earned run while striking out nine batters. Buttaci scored three runs, reached base twice on walks, and stole two bases, contributing to the scoring efforts.
The Rams secured a 6-1 victory over Jarvis Christian College in game two Friday, with the Rams' pitching staff limiting the opposition to just two hits.
Texas Wesleyan opened the game with Jaquez doubling to center field and later scoring on a groundout by Hernandez, establishing an early lead. The Bulldogs responded in the bottom of the first, capitalizing on an error to tie the game 1-1.
In the third inning, Texas Wesleyan edged ahead once more. Garcia walked and advanced to third on a single by Jaquez, setting up a sacrifice fly by
Logan Silvertooth that plated Garcia, giving the Rams a 2-1 advantage.
The fourth inning saw the Rams extend their lead.
Gabriel Supelveda reached third after a single and a subsequent error, scoring unearned on Buttaci's heads-up baserunning. Texas Wesleyan led 3-1 after four innings.
Texas Wesleyan continued to build their lead in the fifth inning when Vela doubled and scored on a single by
Jorge Herrera. This put the Rams up 4-1.
In the sixth inning, the visitors added another run as Hernandez scored on an RBI single by Vela, bringing the score to 5-1.
A final run in the seventh inning secured a 6-1 victory for Texas Wesleyan, as they held Jarvis Christian scoreless through the remaining innings. The Rams finished with 12 hits and allowed only two from the opposition, culminating in a decisive win.
Michael Stewart delivered an impressive performance, pitching 5 innings with only 2 hits allowed and 1 earned run, securing the win with a 1-0 record. He struck out 5 batters and issued just 1 walk, finishing with a WHIP of 0.60.
Luka Zakman contributed a flawless inning in relief, facing the minimum and striking out 1, while requiring just 9 pitches.
Conner De Leon faced challenges on the mound, allowing 4 walks in his inning of work but managed to keep the opposition scoreless.
