FORT WORTH — Texas Wesleyan University football returns to the road Saturday afternoon for a Sooner Athletic Conference match-up against Arkansas Baptist College at Quigley-Cox Stadium.
The Rams enter the contest 2-2 overall and 2-0 in SAC play after opening conference play with consecutive victories over Texas College and Nelson University. Arkansas Baptist enters at 2-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play after defeating Langston University 24-9 on Sept. 26.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
RAMS ON A ROLL IN CONFERENCE PLAY
Texas Wesleyan opened SAC play with a 56-20 victory over Texas College before returning from its bye week to defeat Nelson 41-16 on Sept. 26.
The Rams controlled the game against Nelson on both sides of the ball, holding the Lions to minus-4 rushing yards while recording six sacks. Texas Wesleyan also forced two turnovers in the victory.
The offense produced 304 total yards, including 124 rushing yards and 180 passing yards.
Quarterback Charlie Adamoli completed 15 of 27 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown against Nelson, while Ian Jernagin rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
Through four games, Jernagin leads the Rams with 314 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Adamoli has completed 54 of 111 passes for 598 yards and four touchdowns.
Makhi Whitney has been a consistent target in the passing game, leading Texas Wesleyan with 19 receptions for 212 yards.
DEFENSE SETTING THE TONE
After allowing 111 points during the first two games of the season against NCAA Division II opponents Central Oklahoma and McNeese State, the Texas Wesleyan defense has responded strongly during conference play.
The Rams have allowed 36 points combined in their two SAC victories.
Against Nelson, Texas Wesleyan recorded six sacks and held the Lions to 190 total yards. Izack Villasenor recorded a sack on fourth down late in the game, while Ryan Seymour, Brodan Lewis and Jace Hill-Douglas also contributed sacks.
The Rams have also received strong play from the defensive front, which will face an Arkansas Baptist offense that enters the game averaging 6.4 yards per play in its most recent victory.
BUFFALOES COMING OFF HISTORIC WIN
Arkansas Baptist enters Saturday's match-up after defeating Langston 24-9 in its Homecoming game, marking the first victory over the Lions in program history.
The Buffaloes finished with 343 total yards, including 290 rushing yards, and scored 21 unanswered points after halftime.
Running back Tavien Rupert rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown, including a 20-yard scoring run. Kawann Johnson added 67 rushing yards, while Jayden Young rushed for 68 yards and completed 7 of 14 passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Young also connected with Leon Elloie for a 24-yard touchdown.
The Buffaloes' defense turned in a strong second-half performance, holding Langston scoreless after halftime. Arkansas Baptist recorded three sacks, two interceptions, six tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
Vernon Grant led the Buffaloes with nine tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack.
A KEY SAC MATCHUP
Saturday's game pits two teams coming off strong conference victories against one another.
Texas Wesleyan enters the contest 2-0 in SAC play, while Arkansas Baptist is 2-1 after opening conference play with a 30-19 victory over Texas College on Sept. 5 before falling to another SAC opponent and then defeating Langston.
The Rams will look to continue their strong conference start while Arkansas Baptist will attempt to defend its home field and earn its third SAC victory of the season.
HISTORY
Saturday's game marks another meeting between Texas Wesleyan and Arkansas Baptist as the Rams continue their 2026 SAC schedule.
Texas Wesleyan enters the contest after winning its last two games by a combined 61 points and will look to carry that momentum into its first conference road game of the season.

Following Saturday's contest, Texas Wesleyan will remain on the road for a match-up against Louisiana Christian University on Oct. 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Wildcat Field in Pineville, Louisiana.
The Rams will return home Oct. 17 to host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at Crowley ISD Multi-Purpose Stadium.
