WSOC: Rams Force Draw with Aggies to Start Homestead

FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Wesleyan University (3-6-4, 0-2-1 SAC) tied Oklahoma Panhandle State (2-5-2, 0-2-1 SAC) 0-0 on Saturday. Texas Wesleyan held an 8-6 edge in shots, while its goalkeeper made four saves in the shutout.

Texas Wesleyan opened the first half on the front foot, creating five attacking actions through 8:09 while the match remained 0-0. Sahara Gipson drove the early pressure with three shots, including saves by Leylani Bernal at 3:22 and 4:22, and Maribel Vargas added a corner kick during the opening stretch. Oklahoma Panhandle State worked into the half with a corner and multiple chances, but Adriaa Hardy recorded saves at 19:12 and 30:07 to keep the visitors off the board. Texas Wesleyan had another late look when Vargas hit the crossbar at 41:49, and the half ended scoreless at 0-0.

Texas Wesleyan kept Oklahoma Panhandle State off the scoreboard throughout the second half, with Hardy making two saves, including one at 90:00, as the match finished 0-0. Earlier, Vargas earned Texas Wesleyan's first attacking restart of the half with a corner kick in the 48th minute. Hardy then saved Joyleen Aleman's shot at 53:41, and Texas Wesleyan withstood three Oklahoma Panhandle State corner kicks through 65:22 while the score remained 0-0. Peyton Scott put Texas Wesleyan's best recorded shot of the half wide right in the 59th minute, while Oklahoma Panhandle State's Kiana Oldham also missed wide in the 77th before Hardy's final save preserved the scoreless finish.

Hardy recorded a shutout in goal, making four saves over 90 minutes. Gipson led Texas Wesleyan with three shots and put two on goal, while Vargas added two shots.

The Rams stay home next week as they host Oklahoma City University on Tuesday, October 6 at 5pm.
