T&F Rams Compete on Home Turf in TXWES Winter Invitational

FORT WORTH - Texas Wesleyan University's track and field teams opened their early indoor season with a home performance at the TXWES Winter Invitational on Friday at Karen Cramer Stadium in Fort Worth.

The meet, also listed in some schedules as the TXWES Indoor Qualifier, featured a range of events on the facility's 400-meter flat indoor track. Competitors from the NAIA Rams and the Sooner Athletic Conference were joined by athletes from regional programs including Hill College, Jacksonville College, Huston-Tillotson and the University of Dallas, among others.

Events spanned sprints (60m, 200m, 400m), middle-distance races (600m, 800m, 1000m, mile), longer distances (3000m, 5000m), hurdles, relays such as the men's 4x400m and women's 4x800m, race walks and field events including pole vault.

Standout performances for the Rams included several from freshmen. In the men's 800m, Kevin Preacher finished seventh in his section with a time of 2:24.73. Sean Torres ran 4:35.20 in the men's mile. In the men's pole vault, Aidan Garza cleared 4.30 meters.

The invitational offered Texas Wesleyan athletes an early chance to log qualifying marks on the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) and gain competitive experience ahead of the indoor season's progression toward conference championships

The Rams will next compete in the Jarvis Scott Invitation at Texas Tech University on Feb. 14.
