OKLAHOMA CITY — Montez Young Jr. of Texas Wesleyan has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboards Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for his performance over the past week, the conference announced Monday.
The graduate forward helped the Rams go 3-0 with 21 defensive rebounds, four steals and one block across the three games. Young Jr. grabbed nine defensive rebounds in wins over Southwestern Christian and Oklahoma City, while adding two steals in victories against Southwestern Christian and College of the Ozarks.
He also averaged 13.0 points per game during the stretch.
