ABILENE, TX - The Texas Wesleyan University tennis team faced off with Oklahoma Wesleyan University in a neutral site match on Thursday. The women (11-0) defeated the Eagles (3-4) by a score of 5-2 to remain perfect on the season. The men (6-4) unfortunately fell to the Eagles (4-3) by a score of 3-4 in a contested match that came down to the final singles match.
Women's Tennis
Oklahoma Wesleyan secured the doubles point with victories on courts one and three. On court one, Rocio Lisette Espinal and Jewel Henderson defeated Texas Wesleyan's
Paulina Hudson and Zep Ege, 6-3. Meanwhile, Oceane Frendjian and Madeline Henderson of Oklahoma Wesleyan outlasted
Meghan Connoly and Mica Magday of Texas Wesleyan in a tight 7-6(7) decision on court three. Texas Wesleyan managed a win at court two, where
Kaja Brunzlow and
Carla Arce Fernandez dispatched Ashley Miller and Nancy Henderson 6-0.
Texas Wesleyan rebounded in singles, dominating with five victories. Mica Magday started the singles success with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Oceane Frendjian on court three.
Carla Arce Fernandez followed with a three-set victory at No. 4 singles, overcoming Madeline Henderson 1-6, 6-2, 1-0(10-2).
Paulina Hudson was edged out by Jewel Henderson in a tight contest on court two, 6-4, 3-6, 0-1(8-10), before Zep Ege clinched a crucial point for Texas Wesleyan with a 7-6(7), 7-6(2) win over Rocio Lisette Espinal at No. 1 singles.

In singles, Oklahoma Wesleyan responded with Roman Gonzales-Leeks defeating Wil Bayliss 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Danzic added a point for Texas Wesleyan with a straight-sets victory, 6-4, 6-3, over Alvado at No. 2 singles. Zurmendi faced a tough battle at No. 3 singles, falling to Braun 7-5, 3-6, 0-1(10).
Oklahoma Wesleyan gained momentum with Azehaf's win on court four, 6-1, 6-3 against Sommer. Elkassas kept Texas Wesleyan in contention by securing a 7-6(7), 7-5 victory at No. 5 singles over Callahan. However, the match concluded with Espinal clinching the win for Oklahoma Wesleyan, defeating Capilla Aparicio 7-5, 6-7(3), 7-6(7) on court six.
