OKLAHOMA CITY — Texas Wesleyan University led the Sooner Athletic Conference with 223 student-athletes earning Academic All-SAC honors for their achievements in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year, the conference announced.

The SAC recognized 1,544 student-athletes from across the league for their academic accomplishments. Nelson finished second with 189 honorees, while Wayland Baptist placed third with 186 and Oklahoma City followed with 151.

Academic All-SAC honors recognize student-athletes who participated in an SAC-sponsored championship sport during the academic year. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.25 grade-point average during the previous two semesters and be regular letter winners on their respective teams.

Texas Wesleyan's 223 honorees represented a department-wide commitment to academic success, with student-athletes from 21 varsity programs earning recognition.

Football led the way for the Rams and Lady Rams with 42 Academic All-SAC selections, followed by men's soccer with 22, women's soccer with 19, women's volleyball with 15 and men's golf with 13. Baseball added 18 honorees, while softball had 18 student-athletes recognized.

Other Texas Wesleyan programs represented included men's track & field (11), men's wrestling (8), women's wrestling (14), women's basketball (10), men's basketball (8), beach volleyball (9), women's golf (7), women's outdoor track & field (5), women's cross country (4), and men's cross country (2).
