MSOC:Rams Buck Steers on the Pitch at Martin Field

FORT WORTH — Texas Wesleyan defeated Texas College 6-1 on Friday. Texas Wesleyan scored five times in the second half and finished with an 18-3 advantage in shots, including 9-1 on goal.

Texas Wesleyan broke through at 35:54, when Henrique Soares scored the first goal of the match off an assist from Walter Palacios to put Texas Wesleyan ahead 1-0. Earlier, Texas Wesleyan supplied the pressure with Christobal Garcia sending a shot wide left at 16:29, Jesus Rodriguez taking a corner in the 22nd minute and Diogo Stefane missing high at 26:48, while Texas College's lone listed attacking chance in that stretch was a corner kick at 25:12. Texas Wesleyan continued to look for another goal after Soares' finish, with Soares putting a shot wide less than a minute later before Arcel Zambrano and Mehdi Def each had late attempts miss the frame. Texas Wesleyan carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime.

After halftime, Texas Wesleyan scored five times and finished off a 6-1 win, with Christobal Garcia, Nicholas Duderstadt, Tyrese and Rudy Gonzalez accounting for the goals. Earlier in the half, Texas Wesleyan kept the 1-0 score intact while creating three shots and two corners from 48:39 to 54:16, then Garcia finished a Nestor Salazar assist at 55:29 to make it 2-0. After a Stefane corner and a Stefane shot off the crossbar, Duderstadt scored from Tyrese at 77:13 and Tyrese added a goal at 79:36 for a 4-0 advantage. Texas College answered through Enock off Omar's assist at 84:20, but Texas Wesleyan responded with Rudy Gonzalez goals assisted by Raul Parga at 87:57 and 89:10 before Marco Arduino had a shot saved in the final minute.

Rudy Gonzalez scored twice and put all three of his shots on goal. Tyrese finished with a goal and an assist on his only shot attempt. Parga recorded two assists. Christobal Garcia scored the game-winning goal and totaled two shots.

Enock scored Texas College's goal on his only shot, putting the attempt on frame. Omar recorded an assist and added one shot. Ulysses played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with three saves.

Texas Wesleyan is 2-3-1 overall. Texas College is 0-4-0 overall.

The Rams return to action on the road Tuesday against Austin College at 7 p.m.
