SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. — Texas Wesleyan University (3-5-1, 0-1-0 SAC) lost to No. 14 John Brown University (5-1-2, 1-0-0 SAC) (Ark.) 4-0 on Saturday. The Rams were limited to one shot and one shot on goal while facing 32 shots and 15 on frame, with their goalkeeper recording 11 saves.
The Rams kept John Brown scoreless for more than 41 minutes before two late goals left them trailing 2-0 at halftime. Earlier,
Jimena Aguilar put the Rams' shot on goal in the sixth minute, but Ansley Fuchs made the save. The Rams then absorbed a long stretch of pressure, with
Adriaa Hardy making saves on Joy Long, Brooklyn Hendricks and Andi Riley as John Brown generated repeated shots and corner opportunities. Katherine Keys scored at 41:12 with an assist from Bella Mendieta, and an own goal at 43:15 made it 2-0 before halftime.
The Rams spent much of the second half defending sustained pressure, and John Brown broke through after the interval with goals at 67:17 and 76:08 to move the score to 4-0. Earlier, Hardy kept the Rams within reach by saving shots from Bella Mendieta and Holly Lanter during a stretch that included two John Brown corner kicks and four shots between 50:38 and 59:30. After the third goal, the Rams blocked consecutive attempts near the 70th minute before Hardy saved another shot from Brooklyn Hendricks. Hardy added three more saves in the final 11 minutes, and the Rams kept John Brown from adding on despite three late corner kicks before the match ended in a 4-0 loss.
Hardy recorded 11 saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal. Aguilar put the Rams' lone shot on goal.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday as they take on conference foe Nelson University in Waxahachie, TX on September 29 at 5pm.
