FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Wesleyan University (0-3-2) tied Huston-Tillotson (0-3-4) 2-2 on Tuesday at Martin Field.
Nicholas Duderstadt scored off
Diogo Stefane's assist at 89:18 as Texas Wesleyan equalized late.
Texas Wesleyan fell into an early 2-0 hole after Huston-Tillotson scored at 1:59 and again at 11:11.
Alex Orellana made a save on Manuel 'Lito' Guevara in the 11th minute before the second goal, and Texas Wesleyan began to create chances later in the half with
Chandler Brookins shooting wide and
Nestor Salazar putting an attempt on goal that Luke Phillips saved. Stefane earned Texas Wesleyan's first corner in the 36th minute, then forced another Phillips save at 41:36 before Salazar sent a shot high less than a minute later. Texas Wesleyan added a
Jesus Rodriguez corner at 45:00 but went into halftime trailing 2-0.
Texas Wesleyan completed its second-half comeback in the 90th minute, with Duderstadt scoring off Stefane's assist at 89:18 to tie the match at 2-2. Earlier, Texas Wesleyan began building pressure with
Jesus Rodriguez corner kicks at 51:07 and 58:40, then put a
Peter Tenorio shot on frame that Luke Phillips saved. Salazar pulled Texas Wesleyan within 2-1 in the 64th minute, finishing a chance assisted by
Kaleb Arredondo. Texas Wesleyan continued pressing late, taking four shots and earning three corner kicks from 79:01 to 87:13 while Phillips saved attempts by Stefane and Duderstadt, and the half ended with the match level at 2-2.
Duderstadt scored a game-tying goal and led Texas Wesleyan with four shots, putting all four on goal. Salazar added a goal on three shots, including two on frame. Stefane recorded an assist and put both of his shots on goal. Arredondo also tallied an assist.
Daniel Cerda recorded a goal and an assist, scoring on his lone shot on goal. Anthony Villegas also scored, converting his only shot attempt. Manuel "Lito" Guevara added an assist and put his lone shot on frame. Goalkeeper Luke Phillips finished with seven saves in 90 minutes.
The Rams return to action on Friday, September 11 at 6pm vs Texas College at Martin Field.
