FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Wesleyan University (2-1-1) lost to Huston-Tillotson (2-2-1) 4-0 on Tuesday at Martin Field. Texas Wesleyan put three of its four shots on goal but was held scoreless as Huston-Tillotson finished with a 15-4 shot advantage.
Texas Wesleyan went into halftime trailing 2-0 after Huston-Tillotson scored in the 14th and 19th minutes, with Neydelyn Bonilla scoring off an assist from Emili Taclibon at 13:29 before Taclibon added a goal at 18:23. Earlier, Texas Wesleyan opened with pressure as
Maribel Vargas delivered corner kicks at :46 and 1:12, then
Adriaa Hardy made a save at 9:23 after Huston-Tillotson took four shots in the opening 10 minutes. After the two goals, Hardy added another save on Krystal Trejo-Cristobal in the 32nd minute, and Texas Wesleyan recorded a shot when
Jimena Aguilar forced a save from Juliet Morales-Martinez at 36:55. Huston-Tillotson was called offside twice in the final minute, and Texas Wesleyan reached the break down 2-0.
Texas Wesleyan was forced to chase early in the second half after Huston-Tillotson scored at 52:40 to move ahead 3-0.
Hannah Smith entered in goal at 63:58 and made a save on Kennytzia De La Torre-Arias in the 70th minute, while Aguilar put a shot on frame for Texas Wesleyan at 66:59. Huston-Tillotson added another goal at 77:53, with Caroline Valencia scoring off an assist from Mariyah McCrae to make it 4-0. Texas Wesleyan kept creating chances late, getting a wide attempt from
Amelia Roach in the 87th minute and a saved shot from Vargas in the 89th, but the half ended with Huston-Tillotson finishing off a 4-0 result.
Aguilar led Texas Wesleyan with two shots and put both attempts on goal. Vargas added one shot, also placing it on frame. Hardy recorded two saves over 63:58 in goal.
